Okay, so now that I’ve become the new youth guy at Dayspring, I need your help. I need a title. Jeff and I think “Youth Director” doesn’t really fit us at Dayspring so he told me to come up with a title. I’ve started a list: (feel free to add your thoughts)
1. President of Youth Ministries
2. Chief Youth Ministries Officer (CYMO)
3. Youth Czar
4. The Youth Guy
5. Pope
We’ll think of something…
OK these might sound obvious but what about Youth Pastor/Leader/Facilitator/Developer? Obviously picking one of those three and not all of them. I would go with Youth Leader. But of your original list I like number 3. Or why have a title at all? Why not just go with “Paul”.
There are issues with using the titles “Pastor” and “Minister” because they can suggest that the title holder is qualified to provide pastoral care (legally qualified, not Biblically qualified). It’s kind of like using the title “Counselor”.
I think I like “Student Ministries Leader”… and Pope.
What makes you unqualified to provide pastoral care? You can’t weep with those who weep? Silly denominational rule.
As for the title:
1. Subpar Idiot Serving Sunday’s Youth – SISSY
2. Pastor Assimilating New Services for Youth – PANSY
3. Chief of Ministry Actions – COMA
4. PJtBBAiC – Paul James, the Blasian Bad*&^ in Charge!
Hope this helps.
Oh Justin… You leave me (nearly) speechless yet again
