5K Fever

First, for those of you actually visiting my blog (as opposed to just using a blog reader) you’ll notice some spiffy new colors, a new header image, and a new title. I often wish that everyone would read my blog so that I don’t have to repeat myself — “How am I doing!? Didn’t you read my blog!??”

I ran the Springfest 5k in Allen on Saturday and had a blast. I finished in 27:03 which is an 8:43 mile pace. I ran this one with two co-workers that are new to running — I haven’t run in so long that I could be considered “new to running” as well — and this was their first 5k. They had so much fun we’re going to try to run one every month. That’s going to be a lot of t-shirts. I’m probably going to run another one May 15 in Dallas, and then one June 21 in Irving at Texas Stadium. The one at Texas Stadium starts and finishes on the 50 yard line! I haven’t planned much further in advance although I may do either a 10k in August and a half-marathon in October or November leading up to the Houston Marathon in January! JB, will I see you at Houston? You’ve got nothing better to do.
