Passport?

I got my first one when I was two months old. I’m now on my third passport and getting a bit bummed out that I haven’t left the country in almost 3 years. I need a vacation — I have until April of 2011…

When I grow up…

I want to be like Zig Ziglar. Partially because I think it would be cool to be an alliteration (I could use my middle name and go by Jeff James…) but mostly because he has made it his life goal to be in the business of helping OTHER people succeed in life. Zig Ziglar says “you can have everything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want”. Isn’t THAT the truth? I tried this out in a small way several months ago. The more I comment on my friend’s blogs, the more THEY comment on MY blog! Imagine what would happen if we applied this philosophy to the rest of life?

The art of eating

Can I take a moment to tell you how much I absolutely LOVE food?  Of course I can.

I absolutely, without a doubt love to eat.  I love the mix of flavors, textures, colors, aromas — eating is hands down my favorite pass time.  If I could redesign American culture I would center it on the dinner table.  I am convinced that Americans are overweight not because we don’t count our calories but because we don’t appreciate the art of cooking and eating food.  Why shouldn’t eating be an art?  It’s a beautiful thing when a great wine or beer is matched perfectly (or even not so perfectly) with a meal.  It is a wonderful event when you’ve eaten the perfect portion and you push back from the table fully satisfied and convinced that God created food and drink for our enjoyment.  How unfortunate is the soul that is imprisoned to a life of artificial this and diet that!

My future wife will not have to be a woman that can cook, but one who can eat… and preferably one who doesn’t mind cleaning :-)

Be A Bearcat!

My latest project is done. My client was Lon Morris College and the project was to create a site for the admissions office. My goal was to implement a content management system to separate design and development from content. I chose Adobe Contribute to handle the content management for two reasons: It’s simple and it works hand in hand with Dreamweaver. I trained the staff on Monday on Contribute and they’ve already populated the site with content! I guess it was an effective training session (or the product is just that easy to use).
