I used to hate the idea of new year’s resolutions, the idea that because the calendar starts over that in some way our lives get to start over seemed absurd to me. I also used to be rather pessimistic about things in general. I’m looking forward to 2008 — my only hope is that I grow as a person; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally. Sure I’d like to be a bit healthier and make a little extra cash too (and pay off some more debt) but the things I regret most from last year are the intangibles.
Tozer puts it nicely “the man of illuminated mind will learn from his mistakes, yes even from his sins. If his heart is trusting and penitent, he can be a better man next year for last year’s fault — but let him not return again to folly”. So here’s to 2008 — I hope you become the person you resolve to be.
*EDIT* – Do note the fly new design revisions. Just figured the place could use a bit of a touch up. Doesn’t do much for the quality of my posts though
